Tiny, Essential Pleasures (#WednesdayWisdom)

Tiny Pleasures

So it’s very simple really.

I’ve discovered that of all things, what the human system most needs is rest.

If you’re spinning round and round, just take a little time for you.

Don’t pack in a vacation or an experience or an activity.

It’s time to BE.

Feel the softness of life,

Feel the essential sweet touch of each day,

And come away grateful and renewed,

Ready to dance in the world again!

Such An Important Lesson!

As the sun that beholds the world is untouched by earthly impurities, so the Spirit that is in all things is untouched by external sufferings.

~ Katha Upanishad (Translation: Juan Mascaro’)

Before We ‘Make’ We Must…

Poetry lives in all of us…
How do you know what takes root?

Know that you can be absolutely rich, absolutely happy without any money at all!
For in you, in me, lie the seeds of all art, all science, all thought, all craft.

But sometimes you must love, grieve, laugh and cry – live – before you can create.
Be patient, listen…

Eternal Questions : Ancient Wisdom

Who sends the mind to wander afar? Who first drives life to start on its journey? Who impels us to utter these words? Who is the Spirit behind the eye and the ear?

– Kena Upanishad

(Translation : Juan Mascaro)

A Wish

Afloat on the Ocean of Books

Afloat on the Ocean of Books by Radhika Mukherjee

Lots of books, that’s all I wish for from life.

To read and read and read.

And fill-up with words and ideas and maybe – wisdom?

In the summer-scorch a cool book on logic or something light and breezy.

In cold, cold winter – a book like hot stew – engulfing me in the gumbo of life.

The rains are for life-giving lazy books of love and philosophy.

In spring I’ll start books of growth and renewal – new genres untouched.

And in the in-between times think of all the new skills and languages encased in books!

This decade of my life is dedicated to books.

Reading and learning and just a little doing.

P.S.: And watching all the dance movies ever made! 🙂

What about you?

Thought / Question

I got a great idea for a blog post – to relate a popular cultural icon to writing – and as soon as the idea popped-up; the words started to flow.

I tried to stem the cloud-burst; tried to jot down only the main idea in short form – as I had no time then – to come back to the actual writing later.

Alas, now that I stare at my miserly notes of hours ago; I find that the words have flown away. The scribbles on the page just don’t call up the same intense expression and thought-flow as the original moment of inspiration.

Why couldn’t the words just wait for me? Why did they fly away?

Blogging Thought – 10/10/10

I am so grateful to the internet and to this way of connecting to the world. I have spent the last 10 years being the mute writer. I had things to say, but no one to really listen. I felt silenced, like an essential part of me had no place in the scheme of things.

Now, this little Blog and all the other writing blogs and articles I read is turning my thoughts more and  more to becoming my dream. To write, to write, to write…..(and blog)… forever!

Writing Thought – 21/08/2010

You can’t be a writer by only being boxed-up in a room. Though solitude is important for the process of fruition. You need to be in the world as well — experience the world. This adds flavour, turns thoughts in interesting directions and even plants the seeds of ideas in the mind. Positive Inception!

Good Thought – 8th August ’10

Happiness is contagious. Happiness is made in the absence of ego. Happiness happens when you let yourself feel happy. Happiness is sharing positivity with the one you love.

Did I mention, I am in a Happy Bubble today?

Good Thought — 25th July ’10

It is a nice feeling to stop being petty and angry and for once to see how you can be giving and good.

How you can be a little more considerate and ease someone else’s heart.

In doing so, you get soothed yourself.
