The Rhythm of Stillness

The Last Day

The Last Day

The last dregs

Of fasting days—

Buzzing lethargy.

The pulsing dreams

Of sleepy days—

Stretching reality.

Is there a secret,

Floating in the moments,

Of each passing day?

Is there a solution,

To chained existence,

In infinity?

A child wails,

A hummingbird chirps,

A car honks.

The world turns,

Notwithstanding,

Our fears and joys.
